The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1959 as one of its constituent units. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

   Initially a group formed in Dubai together by professional and amateur theatre artists in the year 2003 with a simple mission... bringing creative dramatics to the fore-front. The group was called ABHINAY and was lead by a group of friends with their utmost dream of bringing accomplishing plays to a city where theatre had still to catch-up on a lot.

Kamani Auditorium was inaugurated on the 22nd of August 1971 by President of India Sh. V.V. Giri. Spread over a vast area in the heart of the capital's cultural arena and with seating capacity of 632 people, the auditorium is on an impressive structure. A prominent part of the complex is the SHRIRAM BHARATIYA KALA KENDRA, one of the premier cultural institutions of INDIA. The outstanding feature of the auditorium is the stage.
